Much like Storm Claudia tore through the north-west the prior day, City blew the visitors aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three goal triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their leadership claims as they strengthened their position at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Losses for Manchester United

This outcome represented successive WSL defeats for the United manager's side for the first time since May 2024, putting them a sizable gap off the league leaders with their title hopes severely dented.

United’s capability to balance league and European soccer with a small team has been a hotly discussed subject since they secured entry to the UCL. Looking at the fixture list, it always appeared this was the matchday that would truly test this fortitude. Regrettably for the visitors, they seemed weary all game, the landmark win against PSG clearly having taken a toll.

Team Changes

Skinner had sought to make changes with a a few alterations. Ella Toone, Elisabeth Terland, Dominique Janssen and Leah Galton all brought vigor, although the dropping of the on-form Melvine Malard to the sidelines caused surprise.

Goals Galore
