The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
