World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extra-inning contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined 51 million spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game drew 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12M. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series drew over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
